A whole month of days, and for each one what the classical tables name for the ordinary undertakings people plan around — and what they set aside. No birth details: a city and a month is all this needs.
Every verdict below carries the tithi, the vāra and the nakṣatra it was decided from, and the verse it was decided by. There is no score and no pass mark.
What a month grid cannot do
This is a generic almanac. Every line on it is true for everyone alive today, which is both its strength and its limit. Half of what the classical procedure asks is the relation between the day's Moon and YOUR OWN birth star — tārā bala, counted from your janma nakṣatra in a cycle of nine, and candra bala, where the day's Moon stands from your janma rāśi. Three of the nine tārās are adverse for a start, and which three you get depends entirely on your birth star. That cannot be printed in an almanac, and no month grid can stand in for it. A day named favourable here can be the wrong day for you, and a day left unnamed here can be the right one. The personalised finder inside the chart tool weighs these same days against your own chart and then elects the hour; it is free and needs no account.
The finder lives inside the chart tool, because it needs a chart. Free, and no account is needed.
Choose one undertaking to follow it across the month; the reason is then shown on every day.
June 2026
New Delhi, IndiaAdhika māsa
Days of this month whose sunrise falls inside it belong to an intercalary lunar month (adhika / mala māsa): the amānta month running from the new moon of 17 May at 01:31 to the new moon of 15 June at 08:24 contains no saṅkrānti at all — the Sun changes no rāśi within it — and that is what makes it intercalary. Horā names it and stops there. The rule that bars saṁskāras inside it belongs to the nirṇaya literature, which is not in this platform's corpus, so no line on any card has been changed by it. Pūrṇimānta schools bound the lunar month at the full moon instead, so the days they count inside it are not the same days.

This day's sunrise falls inside an intercalary lunar month (adhika / mala māsa) — named in full beneath the month heading — and no line on this card has been changed by it.
Why — the rule behind each line
Caturthī is a riktā tithi — riktā means empty, and the tradition leaves the 4th, 9th and 14th of either fortnight alone for an auspicious beginning.
Applied toAll twelve undertakings
Horā's own activity table counts Guruvāra a favourable weekday for this undertaking — reported, not applied.
Applied toMarriage · Entering a new home · Beginning to learn · Opening a business or a shop · Setting out on a journey
For the naming this bar is conditional, exactly as its entry reads: the riktā tithis are set aside “where the tenth or twelfth falls on one and the family can use the other”. The day itself is fixed by the birth, not chosen — where the family cannot use the other day, the rite proceeds on its own day.
Applied toNaming the child

The classical condition for this act is a chart at the chosen minute, not a day, so a month grid cannot place it either way — only rule it out on the tithi and the asterism group. The verse is printed in full with the twelve undertakings below.

Why — the rule behind each line
Caturdaśī is a riktā tithi — riktā means empty, and the tradition leaves the 4th, 9th and 14th of either fortnight alone for an auspicious beginning.
Applied toAll twelve undertakings
Jyeṣṭhā is in the tīkṣṇa (sharp) group, which this act's entry sets aside — the chapter gives those asterisms punishment, separation, destruction and the like.
Applied toMarriage · Entering a new home · Naming the child · First solid food · Boring the ears · Beginning to learn · The sacred thread · Opening a business or a shop · Buying a vehicle · Breaking ground · Setting out on a journey
Ravivāra. The chapter states it outright: “Shaving is prohibited … on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays”.
Applied toFirst haircut
For the naming this bar is conditional, exactly as its entry reads: the riktā tithis are set aside “where the tenth or twelfth falls on one and the family can use the other”. The day itself is fixed by the birth, not chosen — where the family cannot use the other day, the rite proceeds on its own day.
Applied toNaming the child
Horā's own activity table counts Ravivāra a favourable weekday for this undertaking — reported, not applied.

How to read the four marks
Named
The cited text names this day’s nakṣatra for this undertaking, and nothing it can quote bars the day.
Set aside
A prohibition this page can quote applies to this day for this undertaking.
Not named
Nothing bars the day, and nothing names it either. The chapter lists what suits, not what is forbidden — so silence is silence, neither permission nor refusal.
Cannot be decided
The tables genuinely cannot place this day: either the undertaking’s classical condition is a chart rather than a day, or the day’s nakṣatra receives no group in the chapter at all.
A count of undertakings, not a mark for the day. It must not be read against a threshold — there is no threshold.
What “reported, not applied” means
Some lines on a day card end in “reported, not applied”. Those come from Horā’s own activity tables, which the personalised finder uses and which the tradition attributes to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi — but which this page cannot put a quoted verse behind. Rather than apply a rule it cannot show you, or drop it and leave you wondering why a weekday everyone told you to avoid is not mentioned, the page states it and says it did not act on it. Where such a table disagrees outright with the verse this page does quote, the day names both and overrules neither.
The twelve undertakings, and what decides each
These are the saṁskāras and undertakings the muhūrta page covers, with the rule each day above was judged by. The full classical entry for every one of them — where the texts place it in life, and the words the translator used — is on the muhūrta page itself.
Marriage विवाह
Named for
The Pāraskara Gṛhya Sūtra names these asterisms for a marriage.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā's personalised finder holds a second table for this undertaking — “Marriage”, attributed to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi tradition. Where the two disagree on a day, that day says so and neither is overruled.
Entering a new home गृह-प्रवेश
Named for
The chapter gives the dhruva asterisms “the building of towns … and acts of permanent effects”.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā's personalised finder holds a second table for this undertaking — “Property / Gṛha”, attributed to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi tradition. Where the two disagree on a day, that day says so and neither is overruled.
First haircut मुण्डन / चूड़ाकरण
Named for
The chapter names the shaving asterisms outright.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the prohibitions this act’s own verse states outright.
Horā’s second table
Horā’s personalised finder has no separate activity table for this undertaking, so there is nothing to cross-check the verse against.
Worth knowing
The chapter also allows any day of the month when the rite falls at a marriage, at a pollution, or by a king’s direction — so a barred day here is not an absolute bar.
Naming the child नामकरण
Named for
The chapter gives the mṛdu asterisms “any auspicious deeds”.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis — where the tenth or the twelfth falls on one and the family can use the other — and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa and ugra asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā’s personalised finder has no separate activity table for this undertaking, so there is nothing to cross-check the verse against.
Worth knowing
Manu fixes the day itself — the tenth or the twelfth after birth — so which day of this month is yours depends on a birth date an almanac does not have. What is elected is the hour within that day.
First solid food अन्नप्राशन
Named for
The chapter gives the mṛdu asterisms “any auspicious deeds”, and the laghu group its own list.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā’s personalised finder has no separate activity table for this undertaking, so there is nothing to cross-check the verse against.
Worth knowing
The Gṛhya Sūtra places the rite in the sixth month, which an almanac cannot count for you.
Boring the ears कर्णवेध
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā’s personalised finder has no separate activity table for this undertaking, so there is nothing to cross-check the verse against.
Worth knowing
The chapter states this one as a chart, not as a list of days: the rite “shall be performed when the rising sign is that of a benefic planet and not occupied by malefic planets, when benefic planets occupy the 11th and 3rd house”. A rising sign is a minute, not a day, so a month grid cannot place it either way — only rule it out on the tithi and the asterism group.
Beginning to learn विद्यारम्भ
Named for
The chapter expressly gives the laghu asterisms “acquisition of knowledge”.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā's personalised finder holds a second table for this undertaking — “Education Start”, attributed to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi tradition. Where the two disagree on a day, that day says so and neither is overruled.
The sacred thread उपनयन
Named for
The chapter gives the dhruva asterisms “acts of permanent effects”, and the mṛdu asterisms “any auspicious deeds”.
Manu gives the year rather than the day, by varṇa, and the Gṛhyasūtra schools differ among themselves — a family follows its own śākhā.
Opening a business or a shop व्यापार-आरम्भ
Named for
The chapter gives the laghu asterisms “sales”, and “arts, sculpture, medicine”.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā's personalised finder holds a second table for this undertaking — “Business Launch”, attributed to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi tradition. Where the two disagree on a day, that day says so and neither is overruled.
Buying a vehicle वाहन-क्रय
Named for
“purchase of carriage” is named in the laghu list itself, and the cara asterisms are given “works of a moving character”.
Breaking ground भूमि-पूजन
Named for
The chapter gives the dhruva asterisms “the building of towns, acts of public utility, the sowing of seeds and acts of permanent effects”.
Setting out on a journey यात्रा
Named for
The cara asterisms are “asterisms for works of a moving character”.
What its entry sets aside
The riktā tithis and amāvāsyā, and the tīkṣṇa (sharp) and ugra (severe) asterism groups.
Horā’s second table
Horā's personalised finder holds a second table for this undertaking — “Travel / Journey”, attributed to the Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi tradition. Where the two disagree on a day, that day says so and neither is overruled.
Why there is no number on this page
Almost every muhūrta table sold in India ends in a number, and a number invites a threshold: “above this, the date is safe”. No classical text supplies one. The chapters rank — they say an asterism suits an act, or that a tithi is left alone — and a rank is not a scale. Horā already lists a numeric pass mark among the things it refuses to publish, and this page keeps that refusal. The four marks below are that rank, printed as words rather than dressed up as arithmetic.
Where this month will differ from your pañcāṅga — and it will
The month is not the same month everywhereWestern and southern India end the lunar month at the new moon (amānta); much of the north ends it at the full moon (pūrṇimānta). The tithi on a given day is identical in both; the month it is called by is not, and can be a full month out. This page names days by their civil date for exactly that reason.
Solar months against lunar monthsTamil Nadu, Kerala, Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Punjab reckon the year by solar months running from one saṅkrānti to the next; most of the rest of India reckons it by lunar months. “A muhūrta in Vaiśākha” is not the same window in the two systems.
Which day a tithi belongs toA traditional day runs sunrise to sunrise, so a tithi is credited to the day on which it is current at sunrise — which is what this page does. A pañcāṅga that prints only the clock moment of change will disagree with it about the calendar date.
Sunrise against noonHorā’s own personalised finder samples the day at local noon, because it is screening days for one person rather than printing a calendar. On a day where a limb changes between sunrise and noon the two surfaces name different limbs. Both are stated; neither is hidden.
One chapter, read two waysThe Bṛhat Saṁhitā’s own asterism list puts Hasta in two groups and leaves Punarvasu in none. Two competent astrologers reading the same chapter can therefore build different lists — a reason to ask your family’s purohita, not a reason to distrust either of them.
Your school’s paddhati outranks this pageWhere a family follows a school’s own manual, that manual is a living authority and this almanac does not attempt to replace it. What this page can offer is the reasoning, printed openly, so the two can be compared instead of guessed between.
Rules you will be told, that this month does not apply
These are followed widely and seriously across India, and most of them have classical homes. What Horā lacks is the digitised text, not the authority — so it will not compute them, and it will not print them as though it had read them. They are named here rather than hidden, because a reader who is told one of them deserves to know exactly where this page stands.
Marriage barred while Guru or Śukra is combust (asta)
Marriage barred during cāturmāsya, between Devaśayanī and Devotthānī ekādaśī
Saṁskāras barred inside the intercalary month (adhika māsa / malamāsa) — the month is NAMED on the cards that fall in it, but no line is changed by it
The first quarter of Maghā, the last quarter of Revatī and the whole of Mūla barred for marriage (the gaṇḍānta / abhukta-mūla doctrine)
The kalaśa-cakra and similar grids read for gṛha-praveśa
Any numeric pass mark — a “muhūrta score” above which a date is declared safe
None of this says these rules are wrong. It says this page has not read their books, and will not compute from a book it has not read.
What this month was computed from
Each day is decided from the three limbs a printed almanac can decide from — the tithi, the vāra and the nakṣatra — read AT SUNRISE. That is the classical convention: a Vedic day runs sunrise to sunrise, and a day is named by the limb current at its sunrise, not at midnight or local noon. Positions are sidereal (Lāhirī / Citrapakṣa ayanāṁśa) from a high-precision astronomical ephemeris; sunrise and sunset are computed by rise-transit for these exact coordinates, so every window below shifts correctly with longitude, latitude and season. Note that Horā's own personalised finder samples the day at local noon instead, because it is screening days for one person rather than printing a calendar — so for a day on which a tithi or a nakṣatra changes between sunrise and noon, the two surfaces will name different limbs. Neither is wrong; they are answering different questions, and this page tells you which one it answered. Every rule applied here is one the muhūrta page already prints verbatim with its source: the asterism groups and the acts each group carries from the Bṛhat Saṁhitā of Varāhamihira, nakṣatra-karmaguṇa chapter vv. 6–14, tr. N. Chidambaram Iyer, 1884; the five families of tithi and Riktā set aside from the tithi-karmaguṇa chapter v. 2 of the same work; the marriage asterisms from the Pāraskara Gṛhya Sūtra, adhyāya 1, tr. Hermann Oldenberg, Sacred Books of the East vol. 29, 1886, in the received reading of the three Uttara-triads that the muhūrta page already discloses is the tradition's reading and not the sūtra's own words. The Manusmṛti is cited on two cards as a CAVEAT — the naming-day it fixes, the thread-year it gives by varṇa — and decides no verdict here: an almanac has no birth date to count either from. Two features of that asterism table are in the text itself and are preserved rather than tidied away: Hasta is listed in two groups, and Punarvasu is given no group at all — on a Punarvasu day the acts decided by group are therefore reported as undecided rather than guessed. Abhijit is the 8th of 15 equal daylight muhūrtas, not taken on Budhavāra; Rāhu-kāla, Yamaghaṇṭa and Gulika are the classical daylight-eighths tables applied to that day's real daylight span. There is NO score here and no pass mark. The four verdicts are a rank, not a scale, and the tally on each card counts undertakings — it is not a mark for the day and must not be read against a threshold. The muhūrta page lists a numeric pass mark among the things Horā refuses to publish, and this page keeps that refusal.
Abhijit is the eighth of the fifteen equal daylight muhūrtas. Rāhu-kāla, Yamaghaṇṭa and Gulika are the classical daylight-eighths, computed from this day’s real daylight span at this place — so they move with your longitude and the season.
These are classical indications offered for study and reflection, never certainties. Nothing here forecasts an outcome, and nothing here should stand in for medical, financial or legal advice. For the five limbs of each day in full, see the monthly pañcāṅga; for the classical reasoning behind each undertaking, see the muhūrta page.
