How Horā computes it
Planetary positions come from a high-precision astronomical ephemeris, sidereal with the Lāhirī (Citrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa, and bhāvas are whole-sign as in the Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra. Sunrise and sunset are computed by rise-transit for your exact coordinates rather than assumed, which is why timings shift correctly with your latitude and the season.
The interpretation is not written by a language model. Each statement is a digitised classical rule and arrives with the text it came from, so you can go and check it. Where traditions differ, the convention Horā follows is stated in the reading itself.

Questions
Why does a personalised muhūrta differ from the newspaper’s?
A published muhūrta can only use the day’s pañcāṅga. Half of the classical requirement is the relationship between that day’s Moon and *your* birth star — which is personal by definition.
Can it pick an exact time, not just a day?
Yes. Choose a day and Horā scans it in five-minute steps for a clean rising sign, checking the lagna lord, the kendras and the eighth from the lagna.
